Janeway managed the same thing and she's considered one of the most incompetant Captains in the show.

Please, Q is hardly a god. He's not omnipetitant for one (while neither is the xtian god but you get the point).

Pretty much is.

He can do nearly anything he wishes. Control over time and creation... what more do you want?
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I want people to stop crediting the Q with unlimited powers. We've seen that they can be killed, imprisoned, stripped of their powers and outwitted. Does that sound like a god to you?

Now a demi-god would be a better description.

In and of itself, yes. Compared with stopping a planet smasher with an impervious hull, not so much.

If a child singles out a particular ant to focus his magnifying glass on, does that say a lot about the ant?

Or a sentient vessel whose defenses cover 82 AU and is going to store your planet as data.

The Borg were more of a technical challenge than the Doomsday machine and the 2AU cloud.

How exactly is bad computer security more of a technical challenge than an impervious hull and the ability to destroy planets, or being impervious to all available weapons and the ability to shut down the entire planet's defences remotely.

How is a ship single mindedly bent on Assimilating Earth, that had already destroyed a whole fleet, more dangerous than a machine slowly ambling through space... gee let me think on that.

I agree that V'Ger was the more dangerous of the two, but the planet killer's technological sophistication still made it a major threat and a difficult opponent.

Why, exactly, do we need to put down one of these guys in order to praise the other?

Just because V'ger is bigger doesn't mean its a worse threat than the Borg.
Far as stalling the Borg I think Janeway did more than just stall. It'll take the Borg years to recover, if they ever do.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

BS, V'Ger eliminated a Klingon battlegroup, digitised planets, solar systems and galaxies and was poised to wipe out the planet. The Borg were just going to assimilate everything.

And they will eventually be back be it decades or centuries, barring any writer induced stupidity.
