What you all don't know is that Chuck Norris is Kirk's father. 8)

Kirk's main flaw-he cared more about his SHIP than his people. How many times has he sent people to his deaths, and not even batted an eye? How many times, when his crew was in danger, all that he was concerned about was his ship? Thats a main flaw that keeps him from being the greatest captain ever.

Dude that ship was worth more than the entire crews lives, it was a major component of Federation policy. The seventh principle of leadership is "Know you followers and promote their welfare", care to know the first: "Mission success". All other concerns are secondary, he is the CO of a military unit. It's his job to put the mission and the means to accomplish it before the lives of his crew.

How is this a flaw? Without the ship the entire crew would die, and whatever mission had been assigned to Kirk would fail. Therefore, in circumstances where there's a choice between saving the lives of individual crewmen and saving the ship, the ship must take priority.

The ship could save many more lives then the 50 or so people he lost during the series. The needs of the many outway the needs of the few. Any captain in the modern Navy would do the same.

Why do people keep putting Picard at the top? He was worse then Archer.

Picard kept the peace between the Klingons and Romulans, he beat the Borg, he earned the respect of a god like being (Q), he saved humanity countless times.

Hmm, Kirk kept the peace between the Feds, Klingons and Romulans.
he beat the Borg,
Hmm, doomsday machine, Kelvans, V'Ger, Khan, "God" and the list goes on. These were actually defeated, rather than stalled ala the Borg. Remember Picard chose not to eleminate the Borg when he could have.

Kelvans, Metrons, Apollo, Trelane and more.
he saved humanity countless times.
As did Kirk.

Didn't the Romulan's fuel the Klingon civil war? Some peace. He was captured by the Borg. I've never seen a hint of respect out of Q. And who hasn't saved humanity?

Picard was willing to let a civilization die because of the PD, which doesn't make sense because they were going to die anyway. He was increadibly dull in general. And he rarely asked for a second opinion on anything. Ya...great captain there

Yes they did and he managed to stop them with out firing a shot and then kept the peace between everyone.

He beat the Borg.

Ummm... Have you ever watch a Q episode? He loves Picard.

AGT - Q seemed at least marginally impressed that Picard managed to figure out the puzzle he (Q) had set.
And who hasn't saved humanity?

Janeway.

Data fired several actually. Had the Romulans cared to intervene directly, Picard and Data would have been responsible for a rather large three-way war.
He beat the Borg.
Stalled the Borg.

It's clear that he loves screwing around with him.

Stalled the Borg.
Which is hugely impressive,
It's clear that he loves screwing around with him.
If god is interested enough to screw with you it says a lot about you.
