McCains VP?
Who do you think McCain will pick as his Vice President?
You can also give us who you think Obama will but that isnt nearly as important.
The reason McCains VP is so important is because there is a damn good shance he unlike most presidents lattly has a damn good chance of dying in the next 4 years.
I'm not really sure, Romney was a dick during the campaign and seems to have burned a few bridges, Huckabee I think is to extreme for McCain.
Honestly I have no idea for this one. Romney would make the most sense probably but I dont see it happening.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

God if McCain got Colin Powell as VP he's already won... but that will never happen.
I dislike the idea of playing the race card.
I think to many people, especially swing voters will see it as a cheap move to get votes.

And the crazy views would hurt a lot. He can't win with someone like Huck or Ron Paul. They appeal greatly to small groups of people, but not to people as a whole, and not to swing voters.Monroe wrote: Just with slightly crazy views.
Romney might fly, but he has too many issues.
I suppose McCain is in a bit of a rough spot actually. VPs are generally taken from the house, senate, another running mate, a senior cabinet mamber or a govenor.
However the current cabinet members risk a politically harmful Bush taint. As might many mmebers of the house and senate. Limiting his options.

I think if you asked African-Americans, they'd say that's precisely what the situation is.sunnyside wrote:No, I really just wish blacks were a larger part of the Republican party.
I think the disparitysends a bad message, and reduces their ability to address the African American community without seeming like people who really don't care about them.
Either way the solution is to have more African Americans in the party. I think they're moving in the right direction at least with Colin and Condi.Duskofdead wrote: I think if you asked African-Americans, they'd say that's precisely what the situation is.
And I really wish Bush hadn't messed those two up. Either one, free from the Bush crap, would make a powerhouse running mate for McCain. But both are sort of damaged goods right now, as far as public opinion goes.
The problem being that there isn't really anybody else with the right sort of experience out there that is African American for McCain to tap. They've got some Asian Americans but I think they weren't born in the US.
However the Republicans do have a fair sized selection of women who could be VP! McCain could go that route.

Well I think African Americans are pretty cognizant of the fact that the party just seems to want some really elite token black members to disproprotionately show on stage, pan the camera towards at conventions, and appoint to offices to appear diverse. So until the party seems more interested in issues of race, inequality and poverty in the U.S., I wouldn't hold my breath about more joining, unless they have oil tankers named after them.

I think picking someone just to be a token will do more harm than good in the current climate.

Well to be honest I think there really isn't a non Bush tainted African American republican really in the right position to be a VP without being a token, so I suppose I agree.Teaos wrote:I think picking someone just to be a token will do more harm than good in the current climate.
But there are women at least that could be qualified.

I don't think Colin is tainted. He could be a huge asset to McCain. Hell I'd like to see Colin as president but that wont happen.
