I bet you're delighted. :P

What are the strikes over?

Well, knowing nothing about what teachers in the UK get paid, I guess I can't really comment on that.

I guess teaching is looked at as a terrible job, having to try to teach some unwilling enfants terrible how to count to 10? That is, how non-teachers would look at it. One of the worst jobs you could think of. If said case applies, you and I have teachers with the same problems.

Well, I teach in a secondary school (high school for you Yanks), so most of the people I teach are those who have voluntarily chosen to take the subjects I teach, so I only get those who are interested in learning my subjects. Also, the subjects aren't ones that many would percieve as being an easy course, so I get to avoid most of the trouble-makers and knackers, though a few still do slip through (though they tend not to last long in my class if they try any BS).

With our class...and just having gone hyper due to Grease: The musical in CA? it was certainly a sight too see ^_^

and since it was a year 8 geography, we did not choose to take the subject, as we havnt taken our choices. Not many like the subject in my class.

I remember back when I was at school once we had a 3 2 week strike... was great.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

My wife is in one of the teachers' unions over here, but her particular chapter is weaker than well water.

I am seeing it from the other side... I am on strike tomorrow. On the plus side... day off work! Woo hoo! On the down side, I will lose a day's pay for this. Not sure that's worth it with a hungry car to feed. But cest la vie.

Well, it's also a day during which you don't have to drive to work. :)
