Composite bow is no good, then? Because my local sporting-goods stores have them, but longbows are fairly hard to come by.

I've also heard that it is just a commonly believed urban myth, but I don't know one way or the other if it's true or not.

Given that the version I heard involved said Welshman being within 50 yards of Hereford Cathedral, I suspect it's a myth. Either that or there's a long list of places within whose bounds open season is declared on the Welsh.

Wales itself isn't so bad - just a bit damp.

All the road signs in English and gibberish - that's irritating.

Poland and Australia. All the Welsh mines where shut in the 1980's.

This news article mentions the infamous Hereford and Chester bylaws; Though it states after midnight, and the Chester City website says open season is after the 9pm curfew. The lack of firm conditions when referring to this law strengthens the urban myth theory, IMO.
