I've not played bridge commander, but it looks far to complicated from videos ive seen. Legacy is ok on its own, but once you get the "Ultimate Universe" it becomes something entirely different.

Adding UU mod takes the number of playable races from 4 to 8, adds more ships, an shipsystem upgrader, HUD removal so freaks like me can make music videos (lol), and also adds historical battles (playing the Wrath of Khan with the actual music is VERY FUN), designer made battles (The Origins of the Kobayashi Maru for example, is brilliant), alternative battle modes, an "Exploration Mode" where you can just fly around to your hearts content, and most importantly a shatload more ships haha. Legacy is GREAT! Clumsy controls I must say, but they're very simple so its fun to play :-)

After getting Legacy last weekend for the 360, I can say that it is definitely a good game. No Bridge Commander, though, and I do have a few problems with it, but it's an entertaining game.

When i had the PC version on mums computer (got in trouble for giving it a virus), I added the UU mod...and it, with that mod, was fantastic. I spent, and still would spend, alot of time on it, because it's a good way to spend my periods of time when i'm not allowed on my computer. God it killed time. Obliterating things at the helm of a Keldon class was my favourite past time. I love the cardies =D

You should try pasting a Galaxy-class with three Keldons on Bridge Commander. Amazingly fun.

I figured "If the arseholes can't be bothered to make more copies, they don't deserve more money". My copy is ready for dissemination, if only I could figure out a good free way to let people download it.

I have played Legacy and found it damn fantastic. The Xbox 360 version is alot better than the Computer version though. The Computer version eat away at my standard computer's RAM like a hungry animal. Only my mothers computer is capable of running it. And the control interface is full of bugs.

But the 360 version is fantastic. One of the best games i've ever played.
Legacy looks good. (maybe too good.... my machine gets choked on it, even at the loading screen... I hate super, super dense reflective flashy background effects like clouds and water and what not, they use way more system resources than they add to the game.) But after playing BC, especially if you mod it a good bit, you won't think it compares as a tactical game to BC. :)

BC is seriously not super complicated, but if you get easily overwhelmed, or Legacy is "just right", then yeah, you might not like it. After playing BC I was scandalized that Legacy was like.... hail.... alert.....fire....transport or whatever your command options are. Granted, a lot of the ones in BC were for atmosphere only and didn't really "do" much (like having your first officer read off the damage report, when you could get the same info at a glance at your systems) but the game just felt really Trek.

Reading damage reports is a nice touch, but in Legacy's UU Mod, they do it anyway. For example, I flew a Soverign-Class into battle against a Tal'Shiar (spelling?) Romulan Warbirds. Halfway through they both launched a huge volley or torpedoes that fried what was left of my shields and smattered all over the hull. I hear Data's voice: "Sensors at 25%". A random officer "Our shields are down!". Worf: "Phaser recharge rate at minimum." So I warped out and started repairing. haha.

The problem with modding for console games is that you'll never really get a full-on mod community. Half or more of the players of the game play it on the console and come around the gamefaqs forums going "huh what? modds???" That's why I prefer pure PC games or at least games which get ported much later. They tend to have more active online and modding communities.

Indeed, I've always considered PC games to be superior to console games.

I generally have to agree...although Legacy, stock model, was better on the 360. In my opinion anyways...

Most other ways, PC wipes the floor
