I'd feel sorry for them if it wasn't for the huge number of Iraqi civilians dead in an unjust war.

Teaos - what?! The unjust-ness of the war has nothing to do with the lives of those individual servicemen and -women, nor their widows, widowers, and orphans.

We're all doing quite well, considering the situation. I believe Britain has lost about 200 people. Other countries considerably less, obviously. The Iraqi population though, has suffered immensely... Somewhere between 750,000 and 1.25 million dead because of violence resulting from the war from 2003 to 2007. That is an atrocious figure to me. How many of those were children?

What a shame. And all for such a fruitless war. Perhaps the liberation of Iraq is a noble cause, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And that's not even what it's really about, Bush just wants more oil!

The media's death total for civilians is around 83k. Which is a lot and terrible but I don't think its over a million. Maybe if McCain wins...

Well, of course we're doing far better in this instance. We're up against a poorly trained guerilla force with weapons that can barely penetrate the armour used by US soldiers and who have nowhere near the amount of technological gadgets the US forces do.

The media is apparently off by a bit.

Scroll down a bit, it's in the table to the right; it says: "All Iraqi violent deaths".

One source lists it at over a million. Johns Hopkins says 650,000. The Iraqi Health Ministry says 150,000. How such a massive discrepancy could exist is beyond me. Statisticians apparently back up the first two. Of course, that's the problem with statistics: they can be manipulated. The question is, which number is closer to the truth? Either way, it's a hell of a lot of people.

yeah the number is really only useful for its historical reasons. Point is a lot of people are dying in an unjust war and its really sad
