The video in question

This is stunning how....well, realisticly it moves. It doesn't seem too special at the start of the video, but keep watching. It gets shoved over, it puts a foot out to right itself. It starts slipping on ice, yet it keeps it's balance. It runs and jumps, and can climb pile of rubble.

The only downside is that it sounds like a swarm of angry bees.

I know, it's absolutely stunning how well it moves. Hell, that thing probably has better balance on ice than my dogs!

That's awesome! If they can quiet this thing down, it should vastly increase a squad's supply capabilities. 340 pounds is a lot of weight to lug around.

Hell, with 340 lbs of carrying weight, you could probably jam a .50 on there.

Almost certainly. The M2 weighs less than 100 pounds. They already mount them on the Talon remote system in Iraq.

It would probably be better of with a GPMG, the tracked units you mentioned have the benefit of a more stable platform. I think the .50cal would shake it around a fair bit.

Leave it to you guys. Can't you just be impressed with the thing for its own sake? I mean, the way that thing reacted to and compensated for various situations was nothing short of incredible. Although I daresay that pretty soon Boston Dynamics will have a new prototype that will kick that guy back...

A General Purpose Machine Gun is typically a .30cal.
