Music?
Just wondering what people on here like. If I had to list a top ten, the following would be there:
Tool
Alice In Chains
Nine Inch Nails
Primus
A Perfect Circle
Slayer
Black Light Burns
Sepultura
Incubus
Queens of the Stone Age
Clearly, a leaning towards rock/metal. I like plenty of other music, but if I were stuck on a deserted island, these would be the selections of music I would most like to have with me.

I like so many different things, it would be next to impossible to list them all here. Almost everything from your list (except maybe Slayer, although they do have one of the most under-appreciated drummers ever.) I sometimes find it hard to follow a Sepultura song - the ones in Portuguese, at least - but even though I don't understand it, "Rattamahatta" is just plain f-ing awesome.
I'm a big industrial fan, too - Skinny Puppy, KMFDM(!!!), Einsturzende Neubauten, etc. Later Ministry is great, but I can't stand the "Halloween" era Depeche Mode-type stuff. I also like first wave, third wave, and two-tone ska, some new wave - I'm showing my age - and a bit of classic rock - wharf rat Deadhead, you know. Don't care too much for country, but I love Johnny Cash. I like some punk - Bad Religion, The Clash, The Cramps, Gorilla Biscuits. And some Romantic classical and a bit of modern - Paul Hindemith, Stravinsky, and the like. Plus a lot of '40's and '50's bop.

Mikey: Ministry, KMFDM and Skinny Puppy are awesome. Some of my favorite bands. Like you said, I can't possibly list all of the music that I love; it would cover a whole page. If you were stranded on an island, what would you choose to bring (musically)?
As far as ska goes, Madness is my only choice. They were the forerunners in the genre, and IMO, still the best.

Stranded on an island... how many can I pick? As far as Madness being forerunners? Of two-tone, maybe, but really The Specials were that. For the real first wave, try the pre-reggae bands of '60's Jamaica - Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken, The Skatalites, even pre-Rastafari Bob Marley.Tsukiyumi wrote:Mikey: Ministry, KMFDM and Skinny Puppy are awesome. Varthikes - Sarah Brightman's voice is almost unearthly, it's so beautiful. No George Winston?

Hard alternative metal:
System of a Down
Disturbed
Tool
Beyond the big three, more hard stuff like NIN, Cold, Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle, Audioslave, Metallica, and others. For some older-school stuff, there is some AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen in my mp3 collection. (being a penniless college student, it's been quite useful to get it for free, if illegally, online)

god I feel so young. Some of this stuff i've never even heard of
.
anymoo. I like most types of music except Baroque and C & W. I have to pet loves though. I like rock heading toward Metal and emo (kind of fitting i guess). My other one, which is like a complete opposite, is Bhangra/Punjabi.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
so my favourite two bands or artists at this moment are
Enter Shikari
Punjabi MC
I love Pat Benatar for some strange reason that I cannot fathom.
And I'll always have a soft spot for Madonna and Kylie Minogue. Sad I know

1. Classical music. EVERYTHING inside that genre.
Other things outside my little reclusive world of classical music:
within temptation
therion
various tv tunes from early 90s
EDIT: viewtopic.php?t=96 is pretty much the same thing, slightly earlier.

True, but it's been quite a while since then, and we've a load of new members.

Some interesting answers here. This is exactly what I was hoping for starting this thread. You can learn a lot about people by their musical choices. As for myself, as odd as it may seem, I also enjoy:
Massive Attack
Portishead
One Republic
Corinne Bailey Rae
and
The Doors
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
Creedence Clearwater Revival
and
Foo Fighters
The Offspring
NOFX
Audioslave
Overall, a rather broad spectrum of music. As with most things in my life, I don't really care to limit myself in any way. As it seems to be with many of you on here.![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

For one thing, I believe I would get along quite well with people on here in person. Also, the fact that we share a lot of musical preferences on top of our common love of 'Trek strikes me as interesting. As for anything else, well, I'll just keep that to myself for now. 8)
