1) What prompted that response?
Some one talked about crime which brought up my hate of said crime.
Now, this is just a wild guess here, but would 'ash-filled radioactive wasteland' be an acurate description?
Well, I don't believe in using nukes for one but... it would indeed be nothing more then an ash-filled wasteland by the time I was done with it.
I would have thought the much more simple response "annex" would do.
Well, this is Deep we're talking about.
You annex what you want to keep as your own. I for one don't care enough to keep those places.

Well, I talked to a guy who was visiting from Brazil, I think. Any way, his country, whatever it actually was, is a common source of illigal drugs. So one of my friends asked about the drug problem, he says, "we aren't the one with the problem. If the US didn't buy any then no one would make any." He goes on to elaborte on how very few people down there are users of it, despite how much easier it would be for them to get it(in theory). He later said, "it's not our fault United States people are stupid enough to buy it."

So don't blame their country, blame the US.

You're correct; but Deep was referring to a possible solution, not the actual mechanism of the problem. We've all seen how effective our efforts to combat illegal drugs at the point of end use has been.

Never battle just part of the problem.

You need to remove both the supply and the demand at the same time.

The trouble is that drugs could just be made somewhere else or a different drug could be used.

Shut down the Colombian cocain trade and maybe you get more meth plants in Mexico. I think a tighter boarder would help more than taking out any one country.

Taking out a country is also meaningless. You don't target a nation as a whole but the people who are making the drugs. You also don't just strike one country at a time. You hit a dozen of them... HARD! Burn everything, leave no one alive and nothing of use intact. We have to do the same thing here in the US. If they want to call it a war on drugs then they need to act like their at war.

#1 - let's worry about all the basement meth labs here before we worry about the ones in other countries.

#2 - the so-called "war on drugs" has been the most ludicrous, half-assed use of the term "war" that I've ever seen in my life.

Like I said, we need to deal with all of them at once.

Agreed. Though I think Mussolini takes the cake for the most inapropriate useage of military terms.
"The Battle for Births", anyone?

A common feature of Fascist regimes is an emphasis on breeding as many members of the master race as you can, as quickly as you can. Medals and awards where commonly handed out to fecund women in Germany, for example.
I believe the Soviets had similar projects and Motherhood medals to rebuild their population after the battering it took 1914 to 1945.

The Nazi party actually had locations set up specifically for breeding programs, all designed to both bolster "production" ad to "purify" the genome. Seafort could probably help, because I unfortunately don't recall the German terminology.

In short, the Battle for Births was a policy set up by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini before the second world war, in an attempt to make the population grow. Ironicaly, the birth rate actualy dropped during this period.
