There's a History Channel style video about building the ark but for me, Irv's storytelling is far more compelling than a documentary with dramatic music.

Indeed. Kind of makes me wonder now, how have other Great Flood Myths described the building of their "Arks"? Did other Mesopotamian versions have a different Ark?

Indeed. Kind of makes me wonder now, how have other Great Flood Myths described the building of their "Arks"? Did other Mesopotamian versions have a different Ark?

The Ark part might be the big fib. I haven't researched this at all but I think the Ark is exclusive to the Middle East area. Maybe one guy built a boat with some of his livestock and grain aboard, and when a flood came, he rode it down safely.

There's a possibility that a flood scattered the prehistoric ancestor from whom we all are descended, and as they scattered around the globe, they told the tale of a great flood which either just happened, or the gods were angry and sent a flood to punish or cleanse the Earth. There's also the possibility that all cultures independently have experienced a massive flooding of some sort that destroyed their home, and the ones who successfully restarted their culture passed down that tale, with some embellishment.

But this is all speculation. I got nothing concrete.
