I think attention is more diverted toward the Pride...

I'd be interested in Re-creating a character ^^...or taking over a previously unknown lower ranking person on board

Taking a previously unnoticed lower ranking person character might be better. Unless you have a very good story as to why the ship is picking up yet another stray. Helmsman is open.

A new character doesn't have to be a new addition to the ship - it could just be a heretofore unmentioned somebody.

Makes sense. Probably an ensign or lieutenant. If you want to commandeer a name I've mentioned in my staff, feel free - or, post a bio of your own.

When I say "under the weather" I mean "sick". So unless you can heal people by talking to them, I don't think there's much you can do.
