Why aren't the Earth and Venus rockets moving twice as fast as the Mercury and mars rockets? Unless there is some other scaling in effect.

Heh. The fourth paragraph makes it sounds like even the pros were turning in Mary Sue storylines where their new characters overshadowed the main cast.
