Iron Man based suit
Iron Man based suit
Would a warp powered battle suit be developed in Starfleet? Maybe as an alternative to phaser rifles and personal forcefields?
Re: Iron Man based suit
Yes, no, and maybe. Probably but not probably. Could but would but not. Should but could not. Why but how. Where and how. How not and why not.
Ultimately who knows.

What about warp powered vacuum cleaners? That's what I want to know.
Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Warp powered dildo... don't ask.

Re: Iron Man based suit
Took me awhile to find this post. It's Star Trek related, should be in with Star Trek.
Anyway, I thought about this more. It would be interesting to talk about if Trek has the technology to make one.
First off, power source. Is there anything that small that, could power the suit.
Ticorder is small enough to be installed into the suit.
Armor, what could be used for it. Or would a personal shield would be better?
Mayne the suit somehow could teleport itself at will?
Flight I think is easy. Weapons is easy too. Phasers are small.
Does the suit need to be strong at all?

Fixed for accuracy. It's a complete nonsequitur, should be in the bin.

Re: Iron Man based suit
Well its not a bad idea for a topic if he said something along the lines 'With the technology we have seen in Star Trek, do they have the technology to build a Iron Man type of combat suit?'

Re: Iron Man based suit
We briefly saw something that looked very like a powered armour suit in the DS9 episode "Business as Usual". When Quark was demoing the weapons in the holosuite.

So I'd say yes, they can make such things. But then, perhaps the demo shows why they generally don't seem to...

Trek universe tends to shy away from robot stuff.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Iron Man based suit
Thats kind of my point. The vast majority of those robots were made by "mad scientists" away from normal society. They were alwasy treated as an oddity.
You never see mass produced or Federation branded robots.

Re: Iron Man based suit
I remember in the Voyager episode Prototype, the robot asks B'Elanna if the Federation uses robots, and she says yeah, sure we do, lots of different shapes, sizes, designs, etc.
I remember sitting up and going "huh?" Data/Lore/B4 apart (and she does go on to talk about Data), I am struggling to think of one occasion when we've seen a single robot doing anything on any Federation ship or planet.
...and nope. I can't think of a single one. Anybody?
ETA : Oh, there's the ones in Quality of Life. Three custom-built robots used in one single facility. And there's the drone thing Geordi used in the one with his missing Mommy, which was a single bespoke device that only he could use, and then only on remote.
But widely used robots? Anybody?

No that was my point. None of the major trek powers seem to use robots, And I dont count drones and robots really.
