Well that's quite a run of bad health lately. As I recall this isn't the first wacky experience you've had with diabetes; reading about these I'm just thankful my own condition has been more stable thus far. That is to say, I've had highs and lows of blood sugar (once or twice catching and correcting a rather severe hypoglycemic episode at some point before it would cause me to collapse) but so far haven't crossed that certain line. As it comes to blood pressure I've never had any problems though.

Thanks, bro. As it was, the delta-v in my blood glucose was great enough to cause the deck-hitting, but the blood glucose reading itself only got down to about 67 mg/dL - low, but not generally low enough to cause that sort of problem. Well, a new suite of CGM (continuous glucose monitor) equipment is en route,[/] and while such things aren't yet accurate or reactive enough to function as an artificial pancreas, it's at least a good predictor/indicator of trends and situational response to food a/o insulin.

Damn straight it is. Gerry Anderson was the producer behind, in addition to Space: 1999, Thunderbirds and the groundbreaking UFO. As I rewatch it it seems to be at least a little influential in the production design of TMP.

In a nutshell, there's this base on the moon. Part of its function is to monitor and administer the lunar nuclear waster depositories. Well, there's an accident (of course) and the moon is blasted out of orbit on a trajectory through the galaxy. Earth is mentioned as being devastated by the natural calamities that losing the moon would entail, though IIRC it wasn't shown. Meanwhile the crew of Moon Base Alpha, led by Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, go on looking for a planet on which to settle.

Also, the Eagle landers/shuttles/utility ships were pretty iconic for their time, and a pretty neat-o utilitarian design IMHO.

The premise is a bit of an odd one - the moon would usually encounter a new planet / system each week, so you have to assume the explosion did something very strange.

However, the explosion wasn't just a nuclear one. IIRC, they posit that there's some new fundamental force which has been as yet unknown to science, and that piling all the nuclear waste up has triggered or conentrated it or something. So if you assume the explosion was something then maybe it created a warp effect that throws the moon periodically from system to system.

Or something; the technobabble of Space : 1999 was, um, let's use the word "imaginative".

The Eagles were awesome, though. Extremely parctical-looking designs for space - that hull pod in the middle swaps out, too, and they have all sorts of stuff they can put in there.

My oldest (longest) friend's mom passed away on Friday. It was a very rough weekend. I've known Tim since we were probably 3 or 4 years old. They are a very religious family so they truly believe that she is in a better place and happy and such, so they are doing better than most would in this situation. I've been to a lot of funerals, as most on the high side of 40 have, but this was the first time it ended at the actual grave. Usually it is at a chapel at the cemetery. It felt very odd to be at the actual grave site and place the casket on the straps.
