And good luck Graham. Don't worry, If you put as much effort in to the test as that you have for the site you'll fly by.

You'd think, but that's what they said.

Was that to me, or Graham?

Nope. Never had one, I just used to bum rides off of Ian.

I've been to San Fransisco once before, Whittington. That sounds about right...

Good luck, Graham.

The closest I've been to San Fran was LA - more grime than Liverpool, and an oggin that looked about as inviting as the Irish Sea in winter. Not what you see on the postcards.

Good luck with the test Graham. :)

I do. I have to drive to a school an hour away. How do you get around without a license? Take a taxi everyplace?

Why obviously? Most everybody drives here. It's certainly rare to meet an adult who doesn't.

Up to a mile or two, I mostly walk. From a couple of miles up to maybe 10, I would get a bus. Beyond that, a train.

oh, that's right. England has the whole efficient train thing. The only passenger train I can think of in my area is that Amtrak to Chicago. I think it starts in Milwaukee, an hour south.

I used to walk to my first job for the first year and two months. One hour to and one hour home. It was... fun during the Winter of 1997-98, when NH had bad ice storms. I could see icicles forming as I walked by them.

Well perhaps I was wrong about England, but most of my friends in Europe tend not to own cars, or if they do, share them in the flat they're living between 3 or 4 people. Mind you they are all urban areas, so I suppose thats no different than living in the city (my best friend in boston just bought a car after 3 years). But I also know my friend living in London (who is quite well off) for law school now, has yet to buy a car after a year, nor have the 2 girls she's living with (who have been there for 3). She indicated most of her friends tend to use public transportation as well. But again, I suppose that's just metro area. I suppose I made an incorrect assumption.

I've never heard of anything like that in the UK; I can certainly imagine car ownership in the US is higher than here, but there are 33 million road vehicles in the UK, for around 40 million people. Car ownership is far from unusual.
