Oh, yeah! There was a thread at another message board about that. I found it quite fascinating and informative.

I call shenanigans with the first picture. The gambeson, byrnie, turnsole shoes, and shield seem right; but the nasal on a Norman helmet would typically be fashioned from a separate piece and riveted on, and further the weaponry seems wrong. While a huscarl might be able to afford (or be gifted) a Frankish-style sword, that would obviate the need for the axe and the seax. It's a class issue - one would use an axe or (more typically) a seax if one couldn't afford a sword, as most people couldn't - but if one could, then one wouldn't deign to use the axe or seax. Also, the smaller throwing-type axe, as you can tell by the name "francisca," was almost exclusively a Frankish weapon until Carolingian trade came to the Vikings.

That she posed for a picture sitting alone in the most famous romantic spot in the world was taken as a dig at him, and was played out in the press for weeks. They separated a few months later.
