Indeed. However, it wasn't enacted by monarchial fiat or judicial decree - it was enacted by an elected administration. I'e got no love for it myself, but I am one voter rather than a majority.

So what kind of reform would you throw in to replace someone checking phone logs to make sure that people who contact dangerous people get monitored?

Since I know several people that have no trouble calling someone for some pot or even to pickup for underage drinking... what kind of infringement is being tolerated? If you haven't killed someone or are talking to someone who killed someone then they likely don't care about what you have to say.

Or just go the simple route and get off the phone and or internet. Neither are citizens' rights, they are privileges of service provided by companies at the pleasure of our government. Its no different then driving a car and having a judge put a monitor on your vehicle because you're an at risk driver.
