Thanks to this, I went on a Doctor Who Youtube binge, to make up for being unable to watch the series. I found This to be rather enjoyable.
And this from the 2010 Doctor Who Proms concert (whatever that is ) was incredibly epic. Especially with the playing of the Pandorica speech. I am the Doctor

So on ship with 40 aircraft and a crew of 1600 that's taking 9 years to build while still being smaller then a Nimitz... Whats the point of this thing again?
Generally speaking, to have an aircraft carrier near the capabilities of a Nimitz class which they can operate with. That is what I vaguely remember about it.
I also heard that the French might be using the same design as well.

It'll still vastly outclass anything short of a Nimitz/Ford, CdG or Kusneztov, and should be superior to the latter two. Moreover, a Ford costs less than 1% of the annual US defence budget and is still considered a very expensive piece of kit. It would cost more than 10% of the annual UK defence budget.

Even better - this time we'll be able to operate with them without breaking them.

Little? Did you read the bit about it being a more capable platform than anything but a Nimitz?
