My Keyboard Won't Work
As the title suggests, my keyboard has stopped working. Nothing's lighting up on it, so I'm presuming that the problem is a lack of power but the plug is in fine. As far as I can tell there are no switches on it that can turn it on or off either.
Any suggestions?

It's a serial.

Re: My Keyboard Won't Work
My guess is the keyboard itself took a sh*t. But worst case is the port died. So the solution is to grab another keyboard and plug it in, if you buy a new one they are all USB but come with an adapter for serial

Yeah, I was going to say check and see if another serial device works in the same port, if not, then the port is dead, meaning you need to get a USB one for sure, which I have to say isn't that bad.

Well spotted, but I'm using my laptop for this.

I'll screw around with the different ports tonight, and see how it goes. The keyboard's quite old, though, so I think it may just have died. Thanks for the suggestions.

Probably did die if it's old, a lot of them have a long lifespan, but time will kill it.

Re: My Keyboard Won't Work
I doubt this is it, but when i used to have a desktop I had to periodically clean my keyboard. Spilled coffee/soda and food got underneath the keys. I had to sometimes take out all the keys, clean underneath and so forth. There was one time when the keyboard didn't work and that fixed it. The second time well was my fault when I smashed the keys when the computer fried it's hard drive without my permission.

If you are going to plug in or out a PS2 keyboard (the little round pin jobby) then you should really turn the computer off first. I once had a whole motherboard blow when I unplugged a PS2 keyboard.

Re: My Keyboard Won't Work
Can you clarify what you mean by a PS2 keyboard? The only PS2 acronym I know of is Playstation 2, and I doubt that's what you mean. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
