Nah, putting them in prison is the best way to pay them back for what they've done. These people are weak and cowardly, by the end of their first year they'll be wishing for the death penalty.

Sorry, man, but I hate that attitude. Prison should be for rehabilitating people, not leaving people to the mercy of the other inmates. All that does is create worse criminals; people who went in for fraud will come out knowing how to shank people properly.

Doling out real punishment should be left to professionals. I like whit's suggestion.

I agree that prison shouldn't be fun, but people who are in for relatively minor infractions, errors of judgment, and the occasional innocent person shouldn't have to face the same crappy treatment as mass-murderers or child rapists. IMO, of course.
