True story. We almost never get tornados, even in tornado season. I blame global warming.

twenty years ago rain in winter of wisconsin was thought to be near impossible. Ten years ago it was considered an uncommon event. As of today, It has been raining, fogging, hailing, and as you saw above, tornado...ing? for the past two days or so. Well, the tornados only happened yesterday, but I still can't remember a tornado doing anywhere near that much damage in the past. 50 homes damaged or destroyed. This is only the second time a tornado has touched down in January in Wisconsin in recorded history. Many of us have never seen that kind of distruction. The only thing that comes close are the massive pileups during heavy fog.

I'm not saying tornadoes aren't destructive, or that they're not rare in certain parts of the country. I live in New Jersey, and there have only been a couple in the state during my lifetime.

All I'm saying is that a tornadoe results from a confluence of correct conditions, including local wind conditions. These may or may not be related to changes in global patterns, but it is premature to blame such microcosmic weather patterns on a macrocosmic phenomenon.
