I'm not so worried about this though I would like a Lord of the Rings version of this game.

Google Third Age: Total War. It's a mod for M2:TW.
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"

Yep. It's a bitch when Mordor starts throwing armoured trolls at you.
You need the M2:TW Kingdoms expansion, however, or it won't work.

Oh I have Kingdoms. Does it run as a seperate game or does it save over your game?Sionnach Glic wrote:Yep. It's a bitch when Mordor starts throwing armoured trolls at you.

It saves over, IIRC (haven't played it in a good while). So back up your files!

Damn, why can't they just make these things run as another app?
So umm... who here is good with computers? I'll just have you remote my laptop and set this crap up.

Okay, this mod is just pure awesome! You can get hooked for time just watching things and waiting for the shit to hit the fan.
No kidding. Whats worse is that they can move on the city walls. So unlike cav which has to wait for you. The trolls come charging after you. They are f***ing nasty!Sionnach Glic wrote:Yep. It's a bitch when Mordor starts throwing armoured trolls at you.

Re: Rome: Total Realism
Okay, I've got a couple of games going.
High Elves - Archers aren't as good as I'd expect them to be. But they hold well even under melee so its hard for an enemy to rout them. So its good balance.
Dwarves - No cav but their heavy infantry is insane! They also have two ranged units, both which punch armor. If you like head on infantry battles then this is the army for you.
Isengard - This is the Space Marine army of the LotR mod. A pretty good mix of everything while being the best at nothing.
Gondor - These guys are great at the mass armored spear infantry. They have three units of heavy spear, all in full plate armor. Even their archers can have full plate. They are for the good guys what Isengard is for the bad guys.
Mordor - sub par infantry but open in mass numbers. Even their elite infantry is only equal to mid grade Gondor or Rohan. Forget taking on the Dwarves if you don't have trolls.
I played through one hundred turns each just to get a solid feel for these five factions. I'll get around to the other four or five factions next weekend.
