Caitlen Watkins of Springfield, Missouri charged with stabbing man with ice pick

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- A southwest Missouri teenager is accused of stabbing a man with an ice pick in a dispute over a parking spot.

The Greene County prosecutor on Monday charged 18-year-old Caitlen Watkins of Springfield with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Police say the altercation occurred Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a shopping center. According to court documents, Watkins and a passenger in her car confronted another driver after he took a parking place Watkins wanted.

Witnesses told police a fight broke out and the other driver was stabbed a half-dozen times with a wooden-handled, 5-inch ice pick. Witnesses helped break up the fight.

The other driver was treated at a hospital. Police say he suffered a punctured kidney.

A judge set Watkins' bond at $75,000. She did not have a lawyer.

Here's my question, would she have had to stab him in the back for him to have suffered a punctured kidney? The ice pick was 5", is that long enough to reach the kidneys from the front?

This is just for curiosity's sake. I'm not planning on stabbing anyone in the back.

She can't be 18, did they believe a license or something, she can't be, she totally doesn't look it, not even close in fact, she looks 10 or so.
