DnD Online: Now Free To Play

Dunno if anyone is interested in such things but DnD Online is now free to play. I'm currently downloading it with the intention to play either a Barbarian or a Halfling something. I'll throw up some impressions when I actually get in.

Hmmm... if it's free, I might be mildly interested. I'll wait for your review.

I wonder if my older system would support it.

Well so far the install/download process is infuriating.

Well you can either download the whole game or use their downloader to grab it. I choose the first option, which apparently download a 4+ gb DL'er. I then spent a good two hours trying to figure out why the DL'er would not connect. I restarted on the off chance that it would fix the issue (it did). So now it's downloading the game again. Hopefully it'll finish tonight and I can play tomorrow.

If you have a short temper then I wouldn't bother with this. I've almost put my fist through the monitor once already.

Well I played for about 30mins this morning, haven't finished the tutorial yet but so far my impressions of the character creator are clumsy; occasionally you have to click more then once on a selection for it to register. Movement is also clumsy, being controlled by either the W,A,S,D or the arrow buttons which means I get a fair bit of "oversteer". Graphics, well there just plain bad.

So far, it's sounding like "free" may be a bit too expensive for this.

I played it for a short while. If you're a causal RPG gamer who isn't looking to buy, then this is a fair game once you get past the intro part.
