I heard about this this morning. I've heard speculations that the company that owns it may have sunk it for the insurance money under the guise of it being "hijacked".

A timber carrying ship in the far north seems like an odd target.

I got the distinct (yet unfounded) impression that the ship was "pirated" by its own crew and the cargo subsequently bootlegged.

I saw on yahoo a couple of days ago that there's strong evidence that this might have been a raid by Israeli special ops and the ship was containing loose old Soviet era missiles! This is reinforced by Israeli's Prime Minister making a surprise stop to Moscow and a few comments made on Estonia news networks with some of the family of one of the crew members.

So this might shape up to be a pretty damn big story.

None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

It certainly would explain the presence of Somali pirates in Norway. :P

Judging by Israeli spec-ops methodology in the past, though, I'm just a touch surprised that any of the crew were left alive.

It's mentioned in the Jerusalem Post here. Sounds a bit fanciful, but you never know.

So does hijacking a couple of government Mercedes sedans to sneak spec-ops forces into Entebbe... oh, wait.

I think is realistic enough it might have happened. Israeli has some mean counter intelilgence and spec ops. Good for them. And makes me worried that Iran was trying to get a possible nuclear weapon this way (if its true).

Arctic Sea 'arms ship' has been cruising off West African coast

Still no admission from Russia about what was on board.

"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."
