England did not qualify for the EURO 2008

Post by Eosphoros »

My condolences to all the Englishmen here. I could only imagine what it's like to lose on Wembley. This isn't gloating, I really sympathize with your loss. Better luck next time.

Failing to qualify will hopefully be the kick up the arse we need to put the FA on notice that the entire system needs to be overhauled if we want to be sucessful at international level. Besides, listening on the radio it sounded like by far the better team won.

Well, I really hope the FA will do something because the EURO without England is...well...I'm at a loss for words. I can't imagine the European Championship without England. If I recall correctly, it's never happened before.

We were in a similar, though not quite so bad situation while Zlatko Kranjčar was our team coach. After the failure in Germany last year, we finally got rid of the idiot and put the legendary Slaven Bilić in charge. The results are obvious.

I don't folow soccer myself, but I was surprised to hear England was knocked out. Quite a few of the students were rather happy, however.

I hate football.
I turned over the channel to the match, it was 2 - 0 to croatia, shouted yes, and turned it back.

Personally I am glad; I don't have to listen to everybody going on about football for the whole length of the competition!

And hopefully this lack of English participation will inspire the TV people to show a proper sport - i.e. cricket. :)

In practice they probably won't have finish the post-mortem on the qualifying campaign by the time the competition ends. :x
