To be honest, I'm not sure. With luck, some sort of cure or treatment for Alzheimers. It runs in my mother's side of the family so it's something I'm very worried about happening to me in the future.

Was just coming on to post the same thing. Though what I'd really like to see is a ring around the planet, ala the Star City in Arthur C Clarke's book 3001, complete with the 4 huger towers linking to it. I doubt we'll see that in my life time, but a Space Elevator would really make Space travel much cheaper, and safer.Teaos wrote:Personally, the thing I want to see, and something that I think can definatly happen in my life time - Space elevator.
Another thing I'd like to see is a transatlantic tunnel - prefrably from New York to Paris, like in the song I.G.Y. Maybe an underground city or two. Given the resources, I don't think there's any technological barrier to either of those things being built today.

Being linked to France by an undersea tunnel is a bad idea, believe me.kostmayer wrote:Another thing I'd like to see is a transatlantic tunnel - prefrably from New York to Paris

A colony on the Moon called 'New Berlin' would be so cool

I wonder if those colonists would speak German (or 'New German' perhaps)thelordharry wrote:A colony on the Moon called 'New Berlin' would be so cool

Maybe some kind of plan to make the term "undersea" just apply to France as a whole?Captain Seafort wrote:Being linked to France by an undersea tunnel is a bad idea, believe me.kostmayer wrote:Another thing I'd like to see is a transatlantic tunnel - prefrably from New York to Paris

I know, I'm from England myself. But I figure why not let the Americans join in the fun.Captain Seafort wrote:Being linked to France by an undersea tunnel is a bad idea, believe me.kostmayer wrote:Another thing I'd like to see is a transatlantic tunnel - prefrably from New York to Paris

A sustainable undersea colony, think Rapture without the BS economics or psychopaths.

Hmm, you also have to consider that, IIRC, there's a clause in the Geneva Convention against a road or rail link between Deep and Paris.kostmayer wrote:I know, I'm from England myself. But I figure why not let the Americans join in the fun.

Don't worry. AFAIK, folks from Deep's part of the state of Maryland still consider tunnels to be "dark magic."Captain Seafort wrote:Hmm, you also have to consider that, IIRC, there's a clause in the Geneva Convention against a road or rail link between Deep and Paris.kostmayer wrote:I know, I'm from England myself. "Dark" magic because they haven't figured out electric lighting yet, I assume?

Very good.
No, in fact they have been exposed to electric lighting. They just have a tendency to burn at the stake anyone who dabbles in such black arts.

I think my idea of space elevator ties in with the moon base and mission to Mars a lot. In fact I think we almost need an elevator before getting moon bases.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.
