Xbox 360 new game problems

I was in town earlier on today and picked up two new games, Tom Clancy's End War and a game about the Pacific Campaign whose name escapes me now.

When I play the games, however, there's black lines running and flickering along the ground terrain. The sky's fine, the units are fine, but the ground and water are both filled with black lines to the point where it's a complete fucking nuisance to try and play.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? And if so, how do I fix it?

Have you your xbox hooked up online? If its a known problem with the game a patch should download to sort it out. I haven't encountered that on any games I own but could be something silly like a loose or defective cable if its on all games.

Well, I think I just found out what the problem was. When I turned it on this morning, I got a red light and an E74 error message. And because Microsoft's online support system was designed by fucking retards, I've no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do to fix it.

Thanks, but I already checked. Microsoft's support thing is utterly unhelpful.

I managed to find an online guide that gave a number of suggestions as to possible fixes. Unfortunately, all the simple ones aren't working for me. So I'm left with the option of following a step by step guide to dissasemble and repair the thing myself, or pay Microsoft to fix it for me.

Thing is, I've utterly no idea when it comes to electronics. I could barely figure out how to rig up a PC.
