Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
So Rochey, tenatively, whe are we expecting this to be set up?
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I've joined the club. Last night dinner was held in boxer shorts, at the coffee table, watching "The Deadliest Warrior" on Spike.Tsukiyumi wrote:Mark wrote:I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh, was that the "Shaka Zulu vs. William Wallace" one, or the "Green Beret vs. Spetsnaz" one?Mark wrote:Last night dinner was held in boxer shorts, at the coffee table, watching "The Deadliest Warrior" on Spike.

I just found that show recently - I've seen William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu and Spartan vs. Ninja.
"There was also a large horse in the room, taking up most of it."
Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
I've only seen Wallace vs Zulu, Spetznatz vs Green Berets, and Shaolin Monks vs Mouri Warrior.
Caught part of Knights vs Pirates but couldn't see the end.

Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
I've only seen the Zulu vs Wallace, and GB vs Spetznaz...addicting, though IMO they miss the very critical human element in all of it...I agreed witht he Wallace, Zulu fight, but I think the GB could take down the Spetznaz (of course this may be my American bias)

Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
I've seen the show a couple of times and I'm not too impressed. The "experts" they roll out are pretty much just fanboys, and they get a shitload of things wrong.

It sure isn't real-world accurate, but they bring up some very interesting stuff.

Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
Granted......but I'm just waiting for those fanboys to REALLY start going at it.
The Shaolin curbstomped the Maori warrior mainly because of his steel hook swords. The Maori fanboy actually thought that his stingray spear was a match for it (wood with barbs from a stingray in the tip)
Green Beret vs Spetnzats, I think it was human error that screwed it up. That guy in the pistol course with the Berretta choked. He went to fast and screwed up. With that particular model weapon, I used to fire expert every time without really trying.
Looking forward to the IRA vs the Taliban. Right after 9/11 I used to say we should HIRE the IRA to go get those SOBs. After all, if you want to catch a cheater, you hire a cheater, right?

Re: FTF:X sign-up thread
I like the show but I've never seen any "expert" opinions coming from the guys that host it. They just play a lot of guessing games with their stats. GB v Spt was a perfect example of this. They had a GB use his E-tool rather than any of the dozens of combat blades the US has.
I think the best thing about the show is the guests they bring in. They are pretty awesome and seem to enjoy showing off what they can do. The Hosts just seem to waste space. Give me Dale Dye or R Lee any day!

Yeah, I remember that segment which actually compared the Green Beret using an e-tool against the ranged capability of the Spetznatz ballistic knife. How does that make sense?Deepcrush wrote:I like the show but I've never seen any "expert" opinions coming from the guys that host it. They just play a lot of guessing games with their stats. For that matter, the Green Berets strength is raising, training, leading, and assisting native forces. Wouldn't it have made more sense to compare Spetznatz to another actual commando group?
