One reason we have such terrible (in many people's minds) education is because it isn't a priority. Even less now that the economy is not very strong.

We tried that [cough]No Child Left Behind[/cough]. Witness how well that works. 10 years of testing on things our school may not even teach. Whoopee. The 11th grade took the State School Assement for science this week, and fully 2/3rds of the questions were enivromental science or some form of basic geology which we last had in 7th/8th grade, and most people in our school don't take Enviro.

If you're an Enviro major, it's great. If you take anything else, according to the State you're dumb as shit apparently.

You're wrong - No Child Left Behind does quite a bit. It witholds aid from schools that need it, and rewards schools that don't.
