Which universe would you live in?
Okay, one day Q appears to you and says he wants to see how people from our universe adapt to new surroundings, so he's going to transport you to one fictional universe. The choice of which one is entirely up to you, and it can be anyone you wish, as long as it's not this one. You also get the choice of when you arrive, so you can live through certain periods if you wish.
When you arrive there, you keep the same job that you have now, with whatever changes are required to fit in (Eg, a physics teacher would have the knowledge of whatever screwy laws of physics the universe he drops into uses, or a car salesman would become a hover-car salesman).
So, where and when do you go?
EDIT: Due to the fact it's pretty much the best place you could ever want to live, assume the Culture and its universe is off limits.

Culture. I don't know the timeline so much, so I'll just say contemporary with the novels. I've had enough of busting my hump for a living, so I'm gonna go with a universe in which I don't need to do anything in order to live well. When I get bored of total hedonism, maybe I'll try being another species for a while. After that, there are certainly jobs available, if not required.

Re: Which universe would you live in?
my first thought was the Harry Potter universe...it would be pretty cool to be able to wave a wand and get what ever you want.
However, I think I'd have to go with the universe fromt he Pendragon series by D.J. MacHale.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Is there any doubt? Star Trek: TNG. Maybe about 10 years before the launch of the E-D.

Re: Which universe would you live in?
is that fair game?
we'd have to assume that we're in that universe for Q to appear.

Re: Which universe would you live in?
How do you figure? The question specifically stated if Q came to us. "We" are not in the TNG universe, so he's likely on a little holiday doing some universe hopping.

I'll second the suggestion of the Culture.

Thirded. Could there be any other option? The place is about as close to paradise as any sci-fi universe has come.
Only two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe: Albert Einstein.

WH40K, I'm a retired soldier so switching isn't that big a deal. Besides, I think it would be a little more interesting then Trek or the various utopia's in Sci-fi.

Bladerunner.
Big big office buildings, industrial chimneys that fire flames, flying cars, rain (I love the rain even without neon umbrellas and transparent raincoats), big apartment blocks all to yourself, and android strippers.

Either TNG-era Star Trek or Crystal tokyo from Sailor Moon. Preferably after the Black Moon invasion.

Okay, because pretty much anyone who's read the series is going to go for it, the Culture-verse is assumed to be off limits. Let's say that Q pissed off a few Sublimed the last time he was there, and doesn't fancy going back again.

That was just the Nexus-6 models though, who were apparently the latest and greatest.Mikey wrote:

I do have to admit - there are worse ways to go than between Daryl Hannah's thighs.
