The Orange Box
The Orange Box
Yup... it's here finally. I don't know if anyone else has been waiting for this like I have, but it seems like its been forever since Half Life 2, and the first expansion, Episode one came out.
Episode 2 is amazing.... Portal is awesome... and Team Fortress 2 is freakin sweet!!!!!!!!
Anyone else here an avid Half Life fan?

Bought it the day it came out.
I didn't get Episode One before then, so I really had four whole new games to play.
Omen, were you as stunned by Episode Two's ending as I was? I really did not see that coming...

You should get to it, it's quite good. Particularly the battle at the end (spoilers on request).
Just remember; there is no cake.

Finished Episode 2, and yeah, the end was a stunner. I like how they mentioned the aperture science facility in the game, that was kind of funny. And those freaking striders!! there were like 15 of them
And portal has got to be one of the wierdest, almost creepy games i have ever played...
Those automated guns... they sound so nice and cute... till they shoot you.

That is correct. You will be rewarded with delicious, moist, cake.Wrong, the cake is NOT a lie.
As part of a required test protocol, we will stop modifying the truth in 3....2....1....
GLaDOS made the whole game for me.
"I would have invited your companion cube, but you murdered it."
I know, completely unexpected.Finished Episode 2, and yeah, the end was a stunner.
Those damn Hunters were a pain....kept messing up my shots. And those freaking striders!! there were like 15 of them
Also, did you catch Magnuson's line before the battle?
"Pull this off, and I may forgive you for that debacle at Black Mesa. You know the one I mean; involving a certain microwave casserole."
I laughed so hard at that...
Indeed. It was briliantly done. And portal has got to be one of the wierdest, almost creepy games i have ever played...

I don't know if you figured this one out or not (I know the final battle was kicking my butt before I did), but the hunters die really easily when you hit them with the car. Figuring that one out put the final battle into a whole new light, and turned what I was thinking of as the worst final battle ever into just about the best.Rochey wrote: Those damn Hunters were a pain....kept messing up my shots.

Yeah, I figured that out...after being killed by them for about the tenth time, and driving my car into them in frustration.

I am a huge fan of the first Half-Life (finally, a game series written by a sci-fi author, yay); I still haven't played HL2. I just hope it is as mod-friendly as HL - the abundance of mods made the game considerably cooler than it would've been otherwise. Especially the Firearms mod.

I assure you that there is an abundance of mods for it. And you should really get it, it's more than worth the money.I still haven't played HL2. Yes, the Orange box is the best value ever known to man. And I did my first play-through of HL2 on an Athlon XP 2100+ with GeForce 4, so don't tell me you can't run it.DarkOmen wrote:well if you havent played HL2, get the orange box... you get HL2, HL2E1, HL2E2, Portal, and TF2... for only $49..... well worth it.
