Plane crashes in New York - 49 dead
Saw it on Sky News a while ago. A small plane crashed into a house somewhere in New York, killing all forty-eight aboard and the person that lived in the house.

I know people say flying is one of the safest forms of travel... but flying around NY has to be one of the worst.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Plane crashes in New York - 49 dead
Planes here were grounded yesterday at Kennedy, La Guardia, and Newark airports not from this but because of the crazy wind we had yesterday. The wind was also blamed for three deaths (two from flying/falling tree limbs, one from a collapsing wall at a construction site), a number of injuries, and for fanning a big fire in Queens.

Doesn't appear to have been an option - seems like the plane was in enough distress to not be able to keep the trim necessary for such a maneuver; and not everybody has Sully's considerable skill and poise.
