Doing another post so that comment and my reply can be deleted or edited out eventually. I almost felt like a 4 minute rant

Anyway, as someone who works in movies the DP's job is to monitor the lights and what not. So I can understand the DP's point of view. But that's why you look at a shot after wards. He could argue that that wastes time and those union workers on movies aren't cheap. But rants waste more time. And its amazing the stuff you can fix in post. And I know even on our sets people stay still.

Not sure why the entire cast was mad at the DP. Unless the guy's a dick, which Christian said he was a nice guy, the DP shouldn't have anything to do with the actors. Which means that he may have over stepped his bounds which means the director is weak. A strong director like say George Lucas (I assume he's strong since he's so crazy arrogant) would never allow a DP to over step the boundaries and mess with the actors.

Far as $20,000 a shot, that's going away now that video is catching up with film. Prosumer quality still looks video around the edges and when it turns quickly. But a pro quality video camera ranging $50k-250k price wise looks an awefully lot like say super 8 film to 32 mm. Now say you have a shot like Lawrence of Arabia which was shot on 70mm then video is still lagging behind.
