Which Sci-Fi do you think will be closest to real life?

I think that for real life, you'd have to go with B5 or the Alien series. I think they hit the nail on the head with those.

Though come to think of it Dune and 40K are pretty close together. It wouldn't be hard to see 40K being the follow up to Dune. One could make the jump from now to Dune to 40K without to much trouble.

Save for the human-form cylons, I think that the "new" Battlestar Galactica is a realistic future.

I like the new BSG but I find that I get annoyed with the stagnant culture that has formed. No change in a thousand years just bugs me.

It's quite possible that the humans of that universe have simply reached their technological peak. You can't keep inventing forever.

A peak? What peak? They have the tech of my G-ma, they aren't much more then a mini version of the Imp of man.

Anyway, the tech they have is pretty impresive, it just looks crude and low-tech.

Radio's that fail by low level EM, junk.
Bullets that can't crack 1/2 inch cylon armor, junk.
Allowed nukes to be placed all over their home world, stupid.
Ships that can be controled from the outside with the flick of a switch and have no back up systems and or secondary control feature.
My G-ma atleast keeps 'two' mitts for the oven just incase she might need a second.

And how thick armour can modern weapons penetrate?

We have nukes all over our homeworld, too.

Keep in mind though, none of the above actualy disprove my point that they may have reached their technological peak.
