It's really not all that hard to keep your finger off of the trigger, especially if it's loaded with the safety off (or in the case of my weapon, no selectable safety at all). These guys must have crap training. I'm not surprised, of course; my friend that's worked at a firing range for the last six years says police are the absolute worst shooters that come out there.

True story.....A guy I used to work with was retired Army and a retired Cop. He was working security just for something to do more than anything. He told me about his old sergeant (police) who was sitting at a table with his feet propped up and called him over. The guy drew his pistol and ejected the mag. Then said, "Watch how smooth this action is." He took a bead on his foot for some reason, and squeezed the trigger.
