Senior. Our school works wierd. 3 years of American History (American Cultures (A.C.) I-III, 8-10th grades) and the option for A.P. US History in 11th grade, but you are required to have one year (yes only one) of European History, so as a junior you can take MEH (Modern European History) but if you didn't take it your junior year, you must take it or A.P. Euro your senior year. I've been in Hon. A.C. II and III, and A.P. US and A.P. Euro.Lt. Staplic wrote:what grade are you in MM&I?
I took AP Euro last year.

see, I was thinking your were older than me. I'm a Jr.
here, we can't take any AP classes as freshman, and we have to take a World Cultures class.
Sophemores have to take either Western Civilization (basicly modern European History) or AP European History
Jr.+ you have to take US History (AP US history {APUSH as we call it}) Economics (AP Micro Econ, AP macro Econ) and US Government (AP US Gov.)
for ss dpt. anyway.
The school also offeres a Cultures class type thing, were you combine your social studdies requirements for the year with english.

Unfortunately here, Government is no long required. It is a 1 semester elective. Which I took last year. I was one of 3 juniors in the class, the rest were seniors, and had almost no idea what we were talking about. Only about half a dozen of us really contributed intelligently.Jr.+ you have to take US History (AP US history {APUSH as we call it}) Economics (AP Micro Econ, AP macro Econ) and US Government (AP US Gov.)

Re: Catholic Church Embraces New Age Woo-Wooism
wow, you only have 2 AP classes. that has to suck.
we've got the aformentoned AP classes in SS.
The School offeres AP English 1 and 2, AP French 5/Spanish 5, AP Statistics, AP Bio, AP Chem, and Advanced Physics (which I think is AP, and AP Music Theory.
In addition to these we can also take classes where we get joint credit for both highschool and a local college for the class, in things like Advanced Composition, Trig-Pre Calc, web development, ect.
I'm taking a total of five college classes this semester out of eight, so should be fun

Re: Catholic Church Embraces New Age Woo-Wooism
Very nice. We have a "Dual Enrollment" (we get college credit) only for 2 science classes, Hon. Chem II and Hon. Anatamy and Physiology. Our AP Classes are: AP US (11th Grade) AP Bio, AP Euro (12th Grade), AP Calc, and AP English 12. We only have honors for the rest of the classes, except the languages and music progarms. This is our first year with a "music theory" class. Before it was divided into Music Essentials and Music Through the Ages. Basically, my school is F'ed up.Lt. Oh yes. Government used to be required but for some reason they changed it. I only have >6 months left, but I can't wait to get out of that school. I like the people, most of the teachers, the principals and all...I hate the administration (school board) policy's. Especially their (apparent) lack of interest in a healthy music program....Lt. Re: Catholic Church Embraces New Age Woo-Wooism
AP = "Advanced Placement" and essentially yes. I believe it goes "Honors" "A.P." "College Prep" but I don't know if any schools have/use college prep anymore. But yes, AP is much more college styled than other classes.Cpl Kendall wrote:What the heck is an AP class? Is that like a University prep thing?

Re: Catholic Church Embraces New Age Woo-Wooism
AP = Advanced Placement
it' a college level class, you take, then at the end of the year you take a test that's graded by university professors/AP teachers. You get a score back (1-5) that you can then submit to your university and depending on the grade get out of taking a class.
i.e. I got a 3 on my AP Euro test. (average grade, not bad considering I missed a semester). Some schools will take that three and give me the credits for humanities I, some all the way to humanities III, and some won't give me any credit for it.

That was always the way I saw it. I tried advanced classes one year, and decided I didn't feel like having six hours of homework every night.Mark wrote:AP = more work.

Now though, I wish I would have done things a bit differently.

Meh. I don't really need college to do any of the things I really want to do.Mark wrote:Now though, I wish I would have done things a bit differently.
I am considering taking a few community college courses, though, just to enhance my knowledge base.
