My apologies for the terminology - it is the day before Good Friday, but it isn't fixed on the Gregorian calendar. Easter Sunday is defined as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring Equinox (I think). Regarding Passover, is it fixed on the Hebrew calendar, or defined as a given day of the week relative to the moon, as Easter is?Mikey wrote:Assuming that this "Maundy Thursday" (do you mean Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Good Friday?) is fixed on the modern calendar, then the answer would be "no." In fact, some years Passover falls closer to Mardi Gras than it does to Easter.

I believe Easter is relative to passover so yes, it's not a fixed date. It depends on when Passover is. That's why occaisonally you'll have Easter in late March. "Easter" varies yearly. Usually April, but sometimes earlier. Never later as far as I know.Captain Seafort wrote:My apologies for the terminology - it is the day before Good Friday, but it isn't fixed on the Gregorian calendar. Is this accurate enough?
"All this has happened before --"
"But it doesn't have to happen again. Not if we make up our minds to change. Take a different path. Right here, right now."

As to Passover, it's fixed on the ancient Hebrew calnedar (as are all the Jewish holidays.) However, that calendar "floats" compared to the Gregorian calendar.
