I'm as fully against wrong-minded or inflexible dogma as anyone here - I just don't think it's correct to equate that with the concept of religion in general.

Mikey, I apologize if I offended you; I most assuredly do not think less of you because you are a member of an organized faith. I think I've made it clear that I also have faith in the judgment of the lord; I just don't like organized religions. I feel they're mostly detrimental to our advancement as a species.

I have to disagree there. for hundreds of years religions sparked wars between lands. War is when new innovations and inventions get implamented. hence religion actually accellerted our advancement

Yes, war is absolutely necessary, but we could find a better reason to fight than " My god has a bigger d**k than yours".

And again I have to reiterate that while I agree that religion has been a convenient excuse for terrible things during our history, there would have been other excuses had that one not been available. And I'm not offended personally; I'm just trying to point out that when talking about any sort of creed, ethos, or cultural subdivision, blanket generalizations almost always tend to fall apart.
