According to AWEA (the American Wind Energy Association), wind turbines typically produce from 25-40% of maximum rated output. Overall US Wind power for 2006 appears to be about a quarter of 2006 US wind capacity and for 2007, a bit less at roughly 21%. US energy consumption from wind was 0.77% of total consumption in 2007 and is expected to be slightly over 1% for 2008; for the world as a whole it's still less than half a percent.

"US now world's biggest wind power generator" -- Did we finally install some turbines in the House of Representatives and Senate Chambers?

Well, there IS certainly enough hot air there.

Hell, at times I'm surprised the buildings don't take off with all that hot air.

I'm not - the mass of their occupants' collective egos should be more than enough to keep them on terra firm.
