Religion
My take on the whole thing is this:
Spirituality unites people, Religion devides them. so screw it all.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I don't say get rid of ogonized religion because this is what you get in response:
"what is unorgonized religion? Does the leader, or since it's unogonized just some random person get up and start in on a random scripture to be overturned by a mob who don't like that one? Do they even meet, it'd be like, well we'll get together next week or maybe tomorrow, we're not exactly sure..."

Let me rephrase that... to hell with organized religion. If people want to worship privately, that's their business, but this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyTy3wnmARc, and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lvU-DislkI, are just stupid.

Why "to hell with organized religion" based on those examples? You do know that we're not all like that, right?Tsukiyumi wrote:Let me rephrase that... to hell with organized religion. Funny choice of wordsto hell with organized religion
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wonderous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross... but it's not for the timid." Q, Q Who

I didn't even pick up on that.
That's like saying, "Anarchists - unite and conquer!"

Yeah but who makes a fuss over people who mind their own business who you couldn't tell go to [insert house of worship] except on sunday/saturday? Minus the wierdo's in the hills stockpiling guns of course.Mikey wrote:Why "to hell with organized religion" based on those examples? Believe me, my opinion is not solely based on those two examples. I can also list millions of people praying to a rock, or idiots with little understanding of reality, or people calling for nuclear attack over a cartoon, or all of the violence directly caused by religion. I understand the need for it, but in practice, it does more harm than good.Mikey wrote:Why "to hell with organized religion" based on those examples? Re: People who like Bush as President.
Human psychology 101: the power of the group. We seem to stick to each other as much by rejecting outside groups as by consolidating within. Then, conflict intensifies the relations both ways. It's bad enough that people occasionally kill each other in bar fights over sports loyalties, but the idea of a higher God just makes any outsider look like he's disobeying the Ultimate Rules of God. We really can't escape our basic instincts nearly as much as we claim to: we just come up with far cleverer ways of acting on them sometimes.Tsukiyumi wrote:Believe me, my opinion is not solely based on those two examples. Oops. Sometimes I forget that we're all just talking semi-aquatic apes. I guess all the flashy technology confused me into thinking we were something more for a moment there.Captain Picard's Hair wrote:Human psychology 101: the power of the group.
