Also Alaska stayed with their Republican Senator dispite him being a convict
:wtf: No wonder they elected Palin as Governor. Principles need not apply.

Interesting results to say the least. While I did not vote for Obama, I am not so naive and blinded by my party affiliation to see that he does have alot of potential. I disagree on some basic levels with his philosophy, but I still think he will make an excellent president. I am excited to see what the future holds for us.

I am happy how into the election everyone got, especially people my age (20 ish).

On a slightly smaller note:

I live in California, and this last election brought forth Proposition 8, which was an initiative to ban gay marriage. Shockingly enough, this is going to pass. I find it appalling. I consider myself a pretty hardcore conservative, but this is just messed up. I don't see where the government or anyone of us has any place telling two people they can't get married.

Seriously. I don't know how, but we'll have to chip away at these scared, backwards people.

My county went Obama by 43 votes :P

There was 16 people or so at our party last night as we watched the results. Plus my friend (17) drove 3 people to the booth (20). And i bet I could easily list 14 other (to give us the +1) people I know who voted Obama. Kind of amazing to see something that close.

This is truly disappointing in a nation that prides itself on freedom and equality. I guess we're free up to a certain point, that point being the will of the majority of the voters.

I think the whole issue is akin to interracial marriages being illegal fifty years ago. If we'd let states decide that, I guarantee about ten states would still have it illegal. This is certainly a case where the federal government should overrule state law, and demand that all states make it legal.

I read the Al Jazeera site to see what they thought and I ran into this interesting piece:
