It's starting to drive me nuts that I can't find any confirmation on this.
But, I just watched the movie again tonight, and I just had to put the question here.
In the last scene, where Ben and Johnny are being recognized as US citizens... As the camera pans over the crowd, one of the men there looks suspiciously like Rene Auberjonois. Is that him, or just someone that looks like him?
His credit appears neither at the end (it most likely wouldn't be there anyway, since it was only a 2-second appearance), nor at imdb.com (by they tend to not be complete either, as I understand).

You noticed that too?
I honestly don't know if that was him, or just a lookalike.

I'd guess a look a like. At that point in his career, he was still pretty well known for his work on "Benson".

I imagine it was just a guy who looked like him. I can't imagine they'd hire him just as background scenery.

Isn't that the first one where Steve Guttenburg said enough all ready?

Funny how it goes though. I read somewhere that there were tentative plans to make a new Police Academy film and that this time, Steve Guttenburg WAS interested in taking part. Nothing to do with a quick pay day now you're not the King of the 80's comedy anymore Steve?

I saw R A in a mediocre 1970's Supernatural/serial killer movie "The Eyes Of Laura Mars" a few months back. He was a major character, so it seems unlikly he was doing extra work in the 80's. It also featured a young, pre-grizzled Tommy Lee Jones as the Romantic Lead, and a murder victim posed fashion shoot similar to the controversial one in America's Next Top Model recently.
