Pretty big endorsement. Most people in America respect the guy and for the longest time he was thought to be the only viable black candidate for president.

Even bigger since he was a key figure in the first Bush administration. Obama has already said that there would be an advisory position for Powell should he want it.

Great endorsement, and Powell isn't the only Republican to support Obama.
Michael Smerconish
Even Chris Buckley, son of William F. Buckley supports Obama. The National Review fired it's founder's son for supporting a non-Republican.

Also Ken Adelman, a Barry Goldwater Conservative chooses a liberal like Obama over John McCain.

Just read in the paper this morning that Powell was offered a position by Obama.

Powell has been helping both campaigns for awhile now.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I wonder what position he has in mind. I was hoping Richards would be the Secretary of State. But Powell could do Secretary of Defense (though I heard Chuck Nagel was in mind for Obama).Rochey wrote:Just read in the paper this morning that Powell was offered a position by Obama.

Last I read, no specific position was being discussed; more like a generic advisory post.Monroe wrote:I wonder what position he has in mind.
