Re: Star Trek Online
I think they have LOTS of content to generate, not to mention setting up an entire economy, several hierarchies, balancing of races/classes etc., interface issues across the internet. And imagine all the in-jokes and canon references people will be expecting! I mean, the Star Trek Universe is gigantic as it is. Now anyone can explore it all at will. For $15 per month. Expect to spend several hours daily trying to keep up with your friends.
Edit: so yeah, 3 years sounds reasonable.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
Re: Star Trek Online
There's a thread in the video game section. Needless to say its delayed with no end in sight.
kind of reminds me of the WH40k MMO that was delayed then canceled.

How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Re: Star Trek Online
Thanks Tsuki....
back to the subject of time frame, the game was orrigionally being produced by another softwere company, who built it up and started talking about all this stuff it's going to be, then they put it on hold so Paramount contracted another company, the orrigional transferred everything they had on the project, except the code. So the new company has to rewrite all the code that the first one had done, and do it so it does all the stuff that the orrigional company said the game would do. That's probably what's taking so long with it.

Ah makes sense.
The new company was probably like, "Its an older code but it checks out, I was about to clear them."
Then Paramount did some deep breathing and told them to write a new code.
