Since I was asked I guess I should point out that the Daystrom is not a bran new ship as such. It has been around for awhile but has just gone through an large refit to have all the new systems put on board. We have some of the old crew who stayed to help but mostly new guys.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Is it okay if I modify the stats of the Akira? The original post of the comparison values aren't correct with the upgraded Akira (the torpedo index wasn't changed, for example, and we would expect shield/accuracy upgrades)
This would be more accurate:
Length : 464.43 m
Beam : 316.67 m
Height : 87.43 m
Decks : 19
Mass : 3,055,000 tons
Crew : 500 (evac 4500)
3 x Type X phaser arrays, total output 22,500 TeraWatts
12 x Pulse fire photon torpedo tube with 300 rounds
3 x Pulse fire quantum torpedo tube with 75 rounds
Standard shield system, total capacity 2,685,000 TeraJoules
Standard Duranium/Tritanium Double hull plus 5.4 cm High density armour.
Standard level Structural Integrity Field
Normal Cruise : 6
Maximum Cruise : 9.3
Maximum Rated : 9.84 for 12 hours.
Beam Firepower : 450
Torpedo Firepower : 5,025
Weapon Range and Accuracy : 980
Shield Strength : 994
Hull Armour : 640
Speed : 1,307
Combat Manoeuvrability : 1,880
Over all: 1,995
Type 9 Shuttle Craft: 7
Falcon Class Fighters: 7
Type 7 Cargo Shuttles: 5
Danube Class Runabout: 3

RE: I have already put that I was on the Daystrom (I oversaw the tactical upgrades), and Teaos has already said no one else has worked together, which makes it seem I was the only one already serving on it. The best reasoning for this is, in my opinion, that the senior crew all moved ships so that they could continue in the field, why I and the rest of the engineers/designers/refitters stayed with it while it was upgraded.Teaos wrote:Since I was asked I guess I should point out that the Daystrom is not a bran new ship as such. As a senior officer aboard my I speak against our lack of armour and SIF.
I do like that we have the 3 QTLs now, that will be fun to watch!

It has armor in decent amounts for a trek ship. Small ships dont tend to have high SIF's as theyare structually string enough to not need one unlike larger ships.

Think we should sort out the crew numbers, too.
There's a ship of 500, so the departments must be pretty big.
I'd say
Engineering: 150
Tactical: 55
Security: 100
Science: 10
Medical: 30
Operations: 95
Other (specialists, diplomats, command etc): 60
So that's a crew of 500, if you think that each day is divided into three shifts, then at any one time there would only be a third of the overall number of people in each department on duty. So 50 engineers at any time, 30 security, 10 tactical etc...
I realise that this may mess up people's numbers a bit that they've already put on (Teaos + Deepcrush), but I think a simple edit would be the best, otherwise departments will just be too small.
Also I know it's not that important, but it helps add canoninity, that most crewmembers will be enlisted (non-commisioned), the most used enlisted ranks (in ascending order) are Crewman, Petty Officer and Chief Petty Officer. If you have some really old veteran without much rank, you might want to consider him (or her...) being a Senior Chief Petty Officer or even Master Chief Petty Officer.

Can we better define what the rolls different departments have. Check out the other thread were I gave a list of the different rolls. As it is Science only need maybe 2 people a shift since we dont have much to do on this ship. Security doesn't need that much unless they also double as our fighting force which would be a change from normal trek.
We need to specifie what each department does since we seem to have over lap.

I'd be tempted to give you your own department but then it gets kind of messy. Otherwise I would either stick you in with tactical since you are flying the ship in combat or operations sinc flying is in the day to day operations of the ship. Depends what you want and what others think.

I was including our fighting force under security, as their job would be to protect the security of the Daystrom/Federation, whether or not they're actually fighting on the ship, on a planet, or on another ship, doesn't mean they aren't defending something.Teaos wrote:Can we better define what the rolls different departments have. I gave helm its own department because there are relief officers, different shift officers, then also shuttle pilots (not necessarily the fighter pilots, though, but they could be). I don't think its too messy having helm as it's own department, but it's definitely not tactical, if you're saying the reasoning behind that is because he is flying the ship in combat, then you could say engineering is a part of tactical, because they're repairing during combat, or ops is operating and scanning stuff during combat. IMO I'd prefer it to be its own department, but operations would be my second choice, it's up to Teaos in the end.

Lets put them in with operations then since I've never heard of a Helm or pilot department. So thats Helm and normal shuttle pilots while the fighters fall under tactical I think.
