Re: The Youtube video thread!

30 minutes long, but a story about how the Carpathia put in the effort to rescue the Titanic's passengers. One note is that the Carpathia's engine and hull were rated for 14 knots, but the ship got up to 17 knots. This was done by shutting down heating and hot water service so all the steam from th...

Re: Baseline vessel

Hmmm, agreed. Thanks a bunch to everyone for their input on this. :) To throw a wrench in your math. You could do the other way around. Make the X-Wing 100 as a base line. Fighters are used alot in Star Wars. I mean the numbers for capital ships would be huge though. Well which direction would you ...

Re: Baseline vessel

Well, I would have to agree with that assessment, though I’m not sure that doing the Imperial-I at 1,000 would be appropriate, considering just how powerful even that class was …. Its not a matter of how powerful it is, but to be used as baseline ship. But you also need to reflect older weaker ship...

Re: Starfleet Museum

It feels to me that it would be somewhat illegitimate (perhaps the right word) to simply rename a different ship to Enterprise for the purposes of the museum. But, we all have our own opinions :D What LaForge did with the "D" was different, as at least part of that was still the original ...

Re: Starfleet Museum

You answered your own question. Not many in existence. We know the OG 1701 was destroyed and she wasn't even in her original form. The A can reflect that. We have no idea what happened to the B. C was destroyed. D exists in semi name due to being rebuilt with retired Galaxy parts with the saucer bei...

Re: Reinforcements from First Contact

Enterprise-E came at the last minute. Fresh and fully intact. We don't know how long those ships were battling the Borg. I mean we heard the Defiant in the beginning during the transmissions and that was hours before the cube got close to Earth. Defiant was still there but heavily damaged. Its possi...

Re: Baseline vessel

So just do the Imperial-I class Star Destroyer at exactly 10,000? Pretty much. The range has to handle the Executor class all the way down to Z-95 , let alone all the TIE variants. The Imperial-I is nearly everywhere, is the bad guy ship first introduced in ANH, and has a mix of capabilities so a w...

Re: Baseline vessel

So if the Galaxy -class starship is the baseline vessel for Star Trek, then what Star Wars vessel would be the perfect baseline, and at what strength? That's easy. The Imperial Star Destroyer we saw first in New Hope and it's strength would also be 1,000. Because it would be compared to the rest of...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

From what we can tell, the fire migrated from the house to trashcans. The fire on the side of the house was already out by the time I was awake and saw the fire. The fire was starting to die down by the time I put it out. Basically what remained of the trashcans. We have insurance. Originally my Dad...

Re: What's the latest in people's lives?

So... I thought 2025 would be a new year and the end of 2024 which was a very bad year for me. Lost my mother, my apartment burned down and lost two of my cats. Well, last night I woke up at 1 am to go use the bathroom. Wondered about a strong burning plastic smell. Looked around and found the back ...

Re: WWE’s Becky Lynch Announces She Has Joined the Cast of ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’

I'm not sure I can cope with bratty star fleet cadets getting into some sort of whizzo idea of the week. Red squad all over again. Teen angst mixed with Starfleet doesn't exactly add up to me. If there is none of that "messing about" then it's going to be "well today's training missi...

Re: WWE’s Becky Lynch Announces She Has Joined the Cast of ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’

This is one of those mad ideas that has been going around since just after TNG. I'm still unconvinced that it's a good idea. It used to get nicknamed Star Trek 90210, which proves just how long it's lingered. Wasn't it an idea dating before TNG as well? I kinda remember hearing or reading about it ...
