Re: Near deserted planets
I wouldn't go nuts trying to figure out an ecology. That only leads to needless headaches. Your example of algae for instance. If there are no animals creating co2, the algae converts all of it to oxygen, suffocates, and your planet becomes a giant spark plug. So you need at least zooplankton covert...

Re: Reboot Star Trek.
I've pondered the reasons why not myself and have drawn mostly big blanks. I can't see any legal reason not to call it a reboot as long as they don't call it JJ's reboot, so that's not it. There's no professional reason not to, since it would actually make them look more original and more creative. ...

Re: READY PLAYER ONE - Dreamer Trailer [HD]
I've got nothing either for or against Spielberg personally, but I firmly believe that the director's effect on a movie is vastly overhyped. A director can turn a good movie into a bad one, but not the other way around.

Re: Theory About Why Marvel Movies Work and DC Movies Don't
"the first female comic book superhero to be given her own title role" This is simply not true. Supergirl, Elektra, Tank Girl, Barb Wire and Catwoman (at least in name only) all come to mind. While Wonder Woman was certainly far better than any of these, it was by no means the first.

I wouldn't say they don't go together so much as that it takes talent. The animated series did it quite well and the current Trinity series is good (though it has WW as a moderating influence). It's just REALLY easy to screw up.

Indeed. For a tech geek like me, and most of us, probably, this site is INFINITELY more useful than Memory Alpha or any wiki.

Re: Should DITL now include Discovery?
With it safely in its own universe, 90% of my problems with it go away. All that's really left is the stupid magic mushroom drive and the fact that there isn't a single likeable character in the whole thing. I still wouldn't call it good by any stretch, but at least it's no longer insulting.

Re: Theory About Why Marvel Movies Work and DC Movies Don't
What Mikey said. Marvel may have had a plan from the start, but they still built their way into it. DC just threw their entire stable at the audience. DC also labors under the delusion that because people like Batman to be dark and serious, that they want all superhero movies to feel that way.

Re: BLACK PANTHER International Trailer 3 (Marvel 2018)
Eh, I'll be the voice of dissent. I thought it was a pretty paint-by-numbers, average, MCU offering. I didn't hate it, but it tried to do too many things instead of focusing on the main character, had some really slow stretches, and the CGI jumped between really good and really horrible randomly. Th...

Re: Should DITL now include Discovery?
From everything I see, it can't be JJ. The JJprise won't be launched for another two years and while this Enterprise doesn't really look like the Prime, it looks even less like the JJ. Only leaves yet another alternate.
