Plotline

The cadets fight Asencia in a battle for control of Solum and the future – but a sudden invasion by a destructive species complicates their end-game.

Analysis

Rushed and anti-climactic, the finale almost ignores the peril setup in the previous episode. It trivially achieves the impossible task set them and then goes on to solve the problems of the world in one fell swoop. Adding in the Picard season 1 reference seems pointless, especially given that they go on to ignore the new reality Star Fleet is faced with, giving a crew of freshly graduated ensigns control of a ship.
